QUICK-START GUIDE
INTERIOR MOTION DETECTION
If activated, Interior Motion Detection1 is designed to sense moving objects or people inside your vehicle after you turn off the vehicle. If the system detects small movements in the vehicle after you’ve closed the door, it will activate the vehicle’s horn and turn signals to alert you that an occupant, pet, or object may still be in the vehicle. The feature requires an active myCadillac account and mobile app2 for full functionality.
Note: this feature is currently available in France, Germany, Sweden and Switzerland only.
HERE’S WHAT INTERIOR MOTION DETECTION WILL DO IF IT DETECTS MOVEMENT
- When you turn the vehicle off, the sensor starts to look for movement inside the vehicle.
- If it detects something moving, you’ll see a message in your driver display or centre display that will ask you if you want to disable the feature until you turn the vehicle back on.
- If the system detects movement after you get out and close the door, the vehicle will honk the horn and flash the turn signals.
a. If you open and close a door while the vehicle is off and the motion continues, the vehicle will keep alerting you with the horn and lights.
b. If you have an active myCadillac account and mobile app, you may get a mobile-app notification letting you know movement was detected in your vehicle.
4. To stop the alert, open the door and remove or secure the object.
5. If the alerts don’t stop, turn the vehicle on or disable the feature from your driver or centre display.
The system will send an additional notification in the app about 5 minutes after the first one. If registered and available, secondary contacts also receive alerts. Alert notifications may vary depending on regional availability, cellular coverage, software versions, and qualifying subscriptions. Feature availability and functionality may vary by region.
The Interior Motion Detection feature may trigger a false alarm under certain circumstances, including:
- Significant physical force applied to the vehicle
- An object falls in an unoccupied vehicle
- A window is open
- An incorrectly installed child seat
- A blocked or damaged sensor
- Environmental factors (vibrations, noise, high wind, heavy snow, or rain)
- You can temporarily disable the Interior Motion Detection alerts before exiting or locking the vehicle in these situations if needed. If you do, the feature will turn on when you turn your vehicle off and on again. See your owner’s manual for more information.
The Interior Motion Detection system may be unavailable if:
- The vehicle’s battery is at an extremely low state of charge.
- The remote start cycle is not yet complete when using Remote Vehicle Start.
- Different power modes are in use, such as keeping the vehicle on after the driver exits, until the set-time interval expires, or once the vehicle is turned off.
Warnings: Interior Motion Detection may not always detect motion in the vehicle. In addition, when motion is detected, the system cannot determine its source or location. To avoid the risk of personal injury or death, never leave children or pets unattended in a vehicle.
Always check the rear seat before exiting the vehicle, even if equipped with the Interior Motion Detection feature, to ensure no occupants are left behind. Never leave children or pets in or around unattended vehicles.
